This was our spontaneous response to the increased need for food security during the Covid crisis in 2020 but we plan to continue the program during the summer markets from May to October every year. This is an easy way for home gardeners to donate excess vegetables and other crops to community members who need them. Gardeners with a sudden overabundance of tomatoes, beans, zucchini, etc. are invited to bring them to the Falmouth Farmers Market in bags labeled with their name and contact info. The market takes place weekly from 12-5 pm, at Marine Park, next to Falmouth Harbor during the summer months.
Volunteers bring these fresh donations to the Falmouth Service Center for distribution to its clients the next day. We also accept shelf-stable and canned goods for donation. “Share your Bounty” was initiated by Farming Falmouth, in collaboration with the Farmers Market and the Falmouth Service Center, with a grant from the Martha’s Vineyard Bank.
