Service Garden Highlights and Volunteer Opportunities
Service Garden Highlights
2,552 lbs of fresh produce have been donated this year towards our goal of 6,500 pounds!
Join us in the Service Garden this week!
Hi Service Guard-ners,

It's harvest time! In addition to Mondays, we will be harvesting on Wednesday mornings. This week, we will be harvesting green beans, tomatoes, Shishito peppers, and onions. Garden maintenance will also continue with pruning and tying up the tomatoes and cleaning the onions.

Note that the Friday volunteer shift has moved to The Patch, where we will be doing bed prep and planting. The Tuesday and Wednesday shifts are being shortened due to the heat and will be cut at 12 PM.

Make sure you dress for the weather (layers are good) and bring a hat, gloves, water, and any questions you have. Don't forget your sunscreen!

Come help in the garden for an hour or a day, without you, this would not have been possible!
Please help us plan by signing up.

What is the Service Garden?

What Is The Service Garden?

The Service Garden started as a quarter-acre farm field on the historic Tony Andrews Farm owned by the town of Falmouth. It is sub-leased from the generous Geoff Andrews and run by the Nonprofit Farming Falmouth Inc. We extended in 2025 to The Patch with a new 50’x50’ field built less than a month after closing.  The farm fields are tended by Farming Falmouth's farm manager and community volunteers. All the food grown at the Service Garden is being donated to the Falmouth Service Center and the Cape & Islands Veterans Outreach Center. The garden is a learning classroom focused on organic no-till, regenerative agriculture practices.

Service Garden History

  • In 2023 we started a  Service Garden on the Tony Andrews Farm. In our first year, on a 1/16th acre test plot, we grew over 1400 lbs of produce. All the food was donated to the Falmouth Service Center in 2023.

  • In 2024 we quadrupled the size of the garden and expanded our donations to include both the Falmouth Service Center and the Cape & Islands Veterans Outreach Center. We are reaching our donation goal of 5,000 lbs with the help of our dedicated volunteers.

  • 2025 plans to keep expanding!
